Each year, Newlin Elementary School staff works within the boundaries of a fixed specials schedule to create a wonder-ful grade-level wide reading program using R.J. Palacio’s book Wonder. Fifth graders explore Auggie’s world and reflect on themes such as kindness and friendship through small group discussions, family programs, special PE, Music, Art, and Media/Technology projects, and skype visits with “real-life Auggies”. Learn how the magic of collaboration between members of the speciality staff, school administration, student support services, the fifth grade team, and outside organizations creates a truly amazing experience for our students!

I am an elementary school librarian. I love children's books. I have the beginnings of a makerspace in my library, but I'm not great at incorporating into my library schedule yet, so I am looking for ideas.
