We will explore why and how school librarians should address racial inequity in their instructional programs. Using James Banks's levels of integration of multicultural content and principles of culturally sustaining pedagogy, we will share insights on how participants can take existing lesson and unit plans and transform them into more powerful and engaging lessons for all students. Participants should come ready to actively engage in discussion and unit plan development.
